New Line Targets Gap in Authentic Mexican Cheese Options Cacique Foods, the nation's leading Hispanic cheese brand, is rolling out a new line of shredded and grated cheeses designed to bring authentic Mexican flavors to home kitchens. The launch includes three varieties: Mexican Style Four Cheese (shredded), Queso Quesadilla (shredded), and Queso Cotija (grated), available in 7oz, 16oz, and 32oz resealable bags nationwide. The move addresses a gap in the market. While 82% of millennials and 75% of Gen Z cite Mexican food as their favorite cuisine, home cooks typically find only generic "Mexican-style" blends at retail. Cacique's new line introduces specific varieties—quesadilla, oaxaca, asadero, and menonita—that are foundational to authentic Mexican cooking. The Four Cheese blend is designed for tacos, enchiladas, nachos, and salads. Queso Quesadilla offers creamy melt and stretch for quesadillas and other dishes requiring melting power. Queso Cotija delivers bold, sharp flavor in grated form for topping tacos, salads, beans, and elotes. All varieties contain no artificial flavors and are gluten-free.
Campaign and Leadership Push The launch is backed by "Kitchen to Cocina," described as Cacique's largest creative and paid media campaign in years. The campaign, developed by Recreation Dallas, emphasizes that authentic cheese transforms everyday meals into restaurant-quality dishes. Digital media spans Connect TV, Meta, YouTube, TikTok, and programmatic video in both English and Spanish, launching July 20. CEO Pedro Silveira and Chief Marketing Officer Sibel Candemir are leading an aggressive brand-building and innovation agenda. "Cooking Mexican food at home is having its biggest moment yet, and today's cooks won't compromise on authenticity," Candemir said. "For 50 years, Cacique has brought authentic Mexican flavor to home kitchens. Now, we're expanding that legacy in the shredded cheese aisle, making it easier than ever to prepare Mexican dishes with the convenience today's cooks expect and the authentic taste they deserve." The product line includes redesigned packaging highlighting protein content, gluten-free status, and specific usage suggestions.
Why It Matters
The new line signals Cacique's intent to capture share in the broader shredded cheese category as Mexican cuisine consumption accelerates among younger demographics. For operators and retailers, the launch represents a shift toward category segmentation—moving beyond commodity "Mexican-style" blends toward varietals with specific culinary applications.
