Plastic-Free Hydration Gets Engineered Design S'well, the reusable beverage and food storage brand owned by Lifetime Brands, has launched Glass+, a fully plastic-free collection pairing borosilicate glass inserts with triple-layer vacuum-insulated stainless steel sleeves. The line includes a 19 oz Travel Tumbler and 15 oz Food Jar, both available exclusively at Swell.com. The Travel Tumbler keeps drinks cold for up to 16 hours or hot for up to 3 hours and includes a built-in food-grade silicone straw lid and leakproof cap. The Food Jar maintains hot food for up to 2 hours or cold food for up to 8 hours. Both products are dishwasher safe.

Material Innovation Centers on Flavor Preservation The design philosophy behind Glass+ addresses a practical concern for consumers: neutral taste. According to S'well, "what you put in your bottle or container should taste like what you put in, nothing else." The borosilicate glass insert provides a neutral surface that won't absorb or impart flavors, while the stainless steel sleeve delivers insulation needed for portable use. The collection carries a patent-pending design and is priced between $35 and $40 per unit. S'well, founded in 2010, has built its brand on combining functional design with aesthetic appeal in reusable containers.

Why It Matters

For operators and retailers in the beverage and food service sectors, the emergence of premium glass-and-steel hybrid containers reflects growing consumer demand for plastic-free alternatives that don't sacrifice performance or portability. This positions S'well to compete in the sustainability-conscious hydration market while maintaining price points above basic plastic alternatives.
