The Launch
Stellar Snacks, the fastest-growing nationally distributed pretzel brand in U.S. food retail, is rolling out a six-SKU Baked with Olive Oil Pretzel Braids line exclusively at Sprouts Farmers Market locations nationwide. The seed-oil-free collection — anchored by four existing flavors and two new additions, Elote Loco and Spicy Flame — extends the brand's artisanal braid platform into the better-for-you salty snack segment and arrives as Stellar closes out what the company describes as its biggest retail expansion year on record.
The six flavors span sweet and savory occasions: Maui Monk (Maui onion with a sweet finish), Bold & Herby (roasted garlic and onion), Cinnamon Dolce (cinnamon and brown sugar), French Dijon (tangy Dijon mustard), Elote Loco (Mexican street corn seasoning), and Spicy Flame (habanero and paprika). All Stellar products are vegan, non-GMO, kosher, and free of top allergens including peanuts and soy.
Distribution Footprint
The Sprouts exclusivity slots the olive oil line into the natural/specialty channel, a natural fit given the seed-oil-free positioning and better-for-you shopper profile. Stellar's core Original Pretzel Braids, meanwhile, have expanded aggressively across conventional and mass channels in 2026. Kroger, Albertsons/Safeway, and Publix added the brand at the national level earlier this year, followed by a nationwide Target expansion this past summer. A club-channel multipack was introduced concurrently with the Target rollout. Taken together, Stellar ended 2025 with roughly 12,000 retail doors and is on track to reach approximately 18,000 by year-end 2026 — a 50% door-count increase in a single year.
The brand's ACV trajectory supports that door growth. According to SPINS syndicated data, Stellar's average ACV distribution in MULO reached 20% over the last 52 weeks, up 14.3 points year-over-year. MULO sales over the same period grew 205% versus the prior year. In the Total U.S. Grocery channel, Stellar accounted for 27% of all pretzel category growth in the four weeks ending October 4.
Category & Competitive Context
Stellar's velocity gains come as the broader salty snacks set continues to evolve around flavor innovation and ingredient transparency. Shoppers in the pretzel aisle increasingly gravitate toward novel sweet-savory profiles and cleaner formulations — the same consumer signals driving growth in adjacent better-for-you snacking segments. By layering a seed-oil-free, olive-oil-baked credential onto bold culinary flavor profiles, Stellar is positioning itself at the intersection of two durable purchase drivers: indulgent flavor and ingredient mindfulness.
The brand also carries an unusually high trial baseline from its long-running placement on Southwest Airlines flights, where its pretzels reach hundreds of millions of passengers annually. That airline distribution channel has historically functioned as a low-cost sampling vehicle, seeding consumer familiarity ahead of retail shelf placements — a dynamic that likely contributes to above-average velocities as new door counts come online.
A strategic investment from Main Post Partners earlier this year provides additional runway for pack-size and flavor innovation as Stellar approaches a retail footprint that most emerging salty snack brands take a decade to build. Andy Yee, Stellar's Senior Brand Manager, noted that the olive oil line gives shoppers more choices that fit contemporary eating patterns while staying true to the brand's baked-from-scratch process. Co-founder Elisabeth Galvin pointed to the brand's community and retail partners as the engine behind growth that has outpaced original projections.
For category managers, Stellar's combination of high ACV velocity, channel diversification across natural, conventional grocery, mass, and club, and a tightly differentiated innovation pipeline makes it an increasingly significant line-review consideration in the pretzel planogram.
