Hawaii Marks New Regional Milestone The Sausage Project, a chicken sausage brand backed by DFG Ventures, is making its first entry into Hawaii with a debut at Foodland, one of the state's largest supermarket chains. The brand will be available across 20+ Foodland locations. The Hawaii launch follows aggressive national expansion. Since launching in May 2025 with 280 retail locations, the brand has grown to more than 3,000 stores nationwide. A rollout into 1,670 Walmart stores across 48 states and continued growth at Kroger have driven much of that acceleration.

Product Positioning The Sausage Project's fully cooked chicken sausages contain 12–13g of protein per serving and 35% less fat than the leading chicken sausage competitor, according to the company. The brand offers three varieties: Classic Roasted Chicken, Italian Herb, and Melty Cheddar.

Why It Matters

The move into Foodland signals how premium, protein-forward sausage products are gaining traction beyond major mainland chains. For foodservice operators and retailers, The Sausage Project's expansion underscores growing consumer demand for convenient, higher-protein meat alternatives positioned as better-for-you options.
