OOZ has entered US retail as the first 100% organic birch sap brand, launching in April 2026 with a deliberately minimal product: birch water, nothing else. The beverage is wild harvested from a government-protected forest in Northern China during a 14-day window each spring, when trees pull water up from the ground and filter it through themselves before leaves open. The sap is bottled in glass with no added sugar, flavoring, concentrate, or processing. "It carries what the tree carries: naturally occurring electrolytes including potassium, calcium, and magnesium, plus manganese at 35% of the daily value and naturally occurring antioxidants," according to the brand. OOZ calls the category "forest hydration." In its first months, the brand reached approximately 100 retail doors nationally, including Happier Grocery, Fairway, and Pop Up Grocer. The expansion was driven entirely by founder-led sales with zero advertising spend.

Why It Matters

Birch water occupies a narrow but growing niche in functional hydration. OOZ's single-ingredient positioning—and glass packaging—targets consumers seeking minimalist, traceable alternatives to coconut water and electrolyte beverages. Scaling founder-led sales into triple digits suggests retail appetite for differentiated natural hydration claims, though mainstream distribution remains a test.
