McClaren Farms, a fifth-generation Walmart-exclusive beef brand, has rolled out its Smokehouse line across 13 Walmart stores in Northwest Arkansas—the first regional expansion for the product line outside of Texas. The Smokehouse collection features seven USDA Prime and Choice Angus beef cuts tailored for barbecue, including brisket, cowboy ribeye, dino ribs, and burnt ends. All beef is sourced from McClaren's network of more than 1,200 American ranchers across 38 states. The expansion brings the premium line to Bentonville, Rogers, Fayetteville, Springdale, Siloam Springs, and Berryville—marking a strategic move into Walmart's home region.

The Supply Chain Story Bob McClaren, founder of McClaren Farms, emphasized the geographic significance of the launch: "There's something special about taking the Smokehouse line outside of Texas for the first time and bringing it right to where Walmart began. Together, we've built a supply chain that puts American ranchers front and center, and Northwest Arkansas shoppers will now get to know them through the incredible quality of the beef they raise, the very same cuts they serve their own families." The brand sources cattle from a distributed network spanning 38 states, positioning transparency in sourcing as a core differentiator. McClaren Farms traces its heritage to Texas ranching traditions dating to 1896.

Why It Matters

For Walmart, the move reinforces its private-label beef positioning in a competitive premium segment.

For operators and grocers, McClaren's emphasis on traceability and American-sourced cattle reflects growing consumer interest in supply chain transparency—a trend gaining traction across foodservice and retail.
