Greenhouse produce brand Gotham Greens is restructuring its commercial organization and expanding its broker footprint as it pushes for broader national shelf presence, naming Natalie Barber Halpern as its first-ever Chief Commercial Officer and signing national agency C.A. Fortune to manage headquarter sales across key accounts. The moves come less than a year after the company brought in Craig Stevenson as CEO, and as Nielsen Total U.S. xAOC scan data shows Gotham Greens' retail sales growing 18% year-over-year across packaged salads, herbs, salad kits, dressings, dips and cooking sauces for the 52-week period ending August 29, 2026.

The Commercial Build-Out

Halpern's appointment consolidates sales, marketing and innovation under a single commercial umbrella — a structural shift that signals Gotham Greens is aligning its go-to-market functions ahead of a more aggressive planogram push. She arrives from Haleon, where she led the U.S. Advil business, and prior to that managed Centrum and Caltrate vitamins and Sensodyne and Parodontax toothpastes. Her CPG career began at The Clorox Company across Hidden Valley Ranch, Kingsford, Glad and Clorox brands, and she later helped scale Instinct, the premium fresh pet nutrition brand under Nature's Variety. "We have an opportunity to create a truly differentiated fresh food brand that holds a bigger place in consumers' lives and expands into new eating occasions," Halpern said, noting that a recent Cyclospora outbreak has sharpened consumer and retailer focus on the food-safety advantages of greenhouse-grown produce.

C.A. Fortune will handle national headquarter sales supported by an in-store field team, integrated marketing capabilities, insights and digital commerce — a full-service model increasingly favored by emerging fresh brands looking to compress the timeline from new-item sell-in to scan velocity. Tyler Lowell, Managing Partner and CEO of C.A. Fortune, called out supply reliability and an innovation pipeline as the key retailer value propositions: "Retailers are looking for brands that can deliver reliable supply, differentiated consumer products and incremental growth in-store and on a screen."

Category Position and Retail Footprint

Gotham Greens currently sells in more than 6,500 retail doors nationwide, with distribution spanning natural/specialty and conventional grocery — Whole Foods Market, Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market, Albertsons, Publix, Target and Amazon Fresh among them. That cross-channel ACV spread is notable for a greenhouse brand, and the company is leaning into it. Per Nielsen xAOC data, Gotham Greens holds the number-one brand position in basil and claims the fastest-growing greenhouse-grown salad kit velocity in controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) for the same 52-week period. Its best-selling pesto sauces extend the brand beyond the fresh produce planogram into refrigerated condiments and sauces — a category adjacency that broadens TDP potential and reduces dependence on a single fixture.

The company will debut new salad kit innovations at the Global Produce & Floral Show on October 15–16 in Orlando, where buyers from major conventional grocery chains and natural/specialty retailers typically preview new-item pipelines heading into the spring reset cycle. New SKU sell-in off that show floor will be an early test of the C.A. Fortune relationship's execution speed.

What It Means for Operators

For category managers in the fresh perimeter, Gotham Greens' organizational investment is a signal that the greenhouse segment is maturing beyond a niche natural-channel play. A dedicated CCO with mass-market CPG credentials — combined with a national broker capable of managing both headquarters negotiations and in-store conditions — gives the brand the commercial infrastructure to compete for more prominent planogram real estate, secondary end-cap placements and potential promotional programs at scale. Stevenson framed the ambition plainly: the goal is to expand distribution, drive velocity and household penetration, and deliver long-term profitable growth across the full portfolio.
