GoMacro is expanding its MacroSquares line to 450+ Sprouts stores nationwide, effective October 5th, in what the brand describes as its first major retail rollout for the product since launching at Whole Foods in June. The expansion builds on GoMacro's decade-long relationship with Sprouts, where the brand currently holds 30 SKUs on shelf and ranks as the retailer's #1 nutrition bar brand.
Product Details MacroSquares represent GoMacro's first new snack bar line since the company's 2004 founding.
The Sprouts debut includes four flavors: Peanut Butter Chocolate + Sea Salt, Caramel Almond + Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate Nuts + Sea Salt, and Berry White Chocolate + Sea Salt (arriving later this year). Each square delivers 7–8g of protein and combines crunchy nuts, pumpkin seeds, smooth nut butters, and a diagonal chocolate or caramel dip finished with flaky sea salt. The product is priced at $2.79 per bar or $27.90 per 10-pack.
Development Timeline MacroSquares took three years to develop.
The process included testing seven-plus dip designs, building a custom production process from scratch, and incorporating consumer feedback throughout development.
Market Context
The protein bar category has grown increasingly crowded with hyper-functional formulations.
GoMacro positions MacroSquares as an alternative, emphasizing real ingredients, balanced nutrition, and layered textures aimed at casual snacking occasions rather than performance-focused consumption.
Why It Matters
For retailers, the expansion represents a test of consumer appetite for texture-forward, minimalist positioning in a category often dominated by macro-optimized formulations. For operators carrying GoMacro products, the Sprouts rollout signals the brand's continued investment in mainstream retail distribution beyond natural channel incumbents.
