New Blends Target Different Dayparts
Don Francisco's Coffee has launched two new roasts: Daybreak Blend, a medium-dark offering, and Moonlight Roast, an extra-dark variety designed to capture different consumption occasions throughout the day.
Daybreak Blend is made with 100% Arabica beans sourced from Central and South America and East Africa, delivering "vibrant fruity notes and a rich flavor profile for a bright, flavorful cup." Moonlight Roast, billed as the company's boldest offering to date, sources 100% Arabica beans from Central and South America with "an intense smoky aroma, bold, rich flavor, and deep body for a robust coffee experience."
First Major Packaging Overhaul in Years
The product launch coincides with Don Francisco's first major packaging redesign in years. The new design features a bold diagonal layout and refined tile pattern while introducing a streamlined color-coding system to help consumers identify roast levels and flavor profiles.
"For generations, our coffee has been part of people's daily routines, and today those routines look different for everyone," said Lisette Gaviña Lopez, fourth-generation coffee roaster at Gaviña Coffee Company. "With Daybreak and Moonlight, we're offering blends that reflect that range, giving people the flexibility to choose what fits their moment, whether they're in the mood for something bright and vibrant or rich and bold. It's about delivering the quality and consistency they rely on to show up for their day."
Rollout and Availability
Daybreak Blend and Moonlight Roast began rolling out this month with expanded retail distribution continuing through spring 2026. Both are available through the brand's website, Amazon, and select grocery and retail locations in multiple formats: ground coffee bags, whole bean, and single-serve pods compatible with Keurig brewers.
Gaviña Lopez added: "For nearly 60 years, our family has been roasting coffee in Los Angeles with an unwavering commitment to quality. This next chapter builds on that foundation, with an updated look and new blends that reflect how people enjoy coffee today."
Don Francisco's Coffee, the flagship premium brand of Gaviña Coffee Company, also offers recycling options through TerraCycle for used packaging and pods at www.terracycle.com.
Why It Matters
For retail operators and foodservice buyers, the dual-roast launch and packaging redesign signal Don Francisco's effort to compete in a competitive specialty coffee market by offering choice and shelf differentiation. The color-coded system and California-inspired positioning could drive incremental impulse purchases, while the TerraCycle integration appeals to sustainability-conscious consumers increasingly factored into purchasing decisions.
