Chobani is rolling out Ube Sweet Cream Dairy Coffee Creamer, a limited-edition flavor drop featuring the vibrant purple yam long treasured in Filipino cuisine. The creamer launches nationwide in early September at a suggested retail price of $7.49. It's made with real ube, farm-fresh milk, cream, and cane sugar—with no artificial flavors, sweeteners, or hydrogenated oils.

Development Process To ensure authenticity, Chobani's R&D team worked closely with Filipino employees during development.

The team tasted ube pastries, desserts, and other traditional Filipino ube products to refine the recipe. "When I tried the finished product, I immediately thought of the ube macapuno ice cream I grew up buying from the mamang sorbetero—a Filipino street ice cream vendor. It really took me back," said Nina Felix, Senior Director of Supply Chain Optimization at Chobani.

Packaging and Storytelling The limited-edition packaging features three designs illustrated by Manila-based artist Patricia Doria. Each design incorporates a playful Halloween-inspired aesthetic intended to spark curiosity about ube's origins and cultural significance. "Flavor Drops are all about discovery," said Jackie Morrogh, Director of Platform Growth at Chobani. "For the people who grew up with ube, we hope it tastes just like you remember. And for those trying it for the first time, we hope it inspires you to seek out more ube."

Why It Matters

The launch reflects how consumer-facing brands are deepening cultural education alongside product innovation. For operators and retailers, the creamer represents a tactical entry point into the growing ube trend while positioning Chobani's portfolio beyond yogurt and plant-based products into the adjacency of coffee creamers.
